Wine Tasting update

The Wine and the water.

Whilst attending a wedding , the wedding party ran out of wine. This by all accounts was a ‘disaster’ and the mother of one of the guests, said to those who were serving. “do whatever he tells you”, referring to her son.
The servers were asked to fill containers with water, and to pour out some and present it to the chief steward [waiter]  After tasting the content, and not knowing its source, he remarked to the bridegroom. You are to be congratulated, for breaking tradition,  serving the best wine first by serving it last.
Now tonight you have been marking the best wine, its a matter of personal taste after all, we have not served them in any particular quality order..
The story told refers to a place called Cana.
This story comes from the most read most sold book in the world – the bible
The Son of the mother was Jesus
This was the first of the miracles recorded.

But why tell the story – Well, at the Wine Tasting we enjoyed both wine and water, but it doesn’t end there.
We are very fortunate in that we can enjoy wine, and perhaps give little thought to water. But for many – water – this very basic item, is scarce, and at best disease ridden, and filthy.
We are in a position where – we can ,for some at least – create a miracle, and supply water to where there is none to be had at present.
Any money raised tonight, above and beyond covering costs will be going to Water aid putting infrastructure in place so that water can be drawn from wells,or hand pumps, and will be purified before drinking, thus saving or at least lengthening the lives of many.
For some – girls in particular – will be able to attend school, receive education, for the first time, and not have to walk for miles to the nearest drinking hole, avoiding predatory wild animals on the journey.
So thank you all for your participation.

We raised over £400 to make a difference.

Thank you – to all who have given time, talent and resources.

See how you have made a difference.
