Commission for Mission
You are welcome to join us on Sunday 7th March for a special presentation to “commission for mission”, Joy Hatfield, our Youth worker. Joy started work in January but it is important for us recognise her specific task, gifts and skills but more importantly to ask God to bless her and the work she will be doing.
All are welcome at 5.10 pm at Hastings High school, Burbage.

North Warwickshire & Hinckley College Update
I’d just like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update college wise. I shared at the last Core Team meeting about a possible future partnership with the Chaplaincy Team and things have since progressed in this area at a rapid rate. I met with Naomi Nixon (Chaplain) on the Thursday before half term to talk some ideas through and by the end of that same meeting I came away with two chaplaincy t-shirts and a start date!
On Tuesday 23rd February I started the role of Assistant Chaplain. I will be paid by the college directly for the four hours a week I’ll be doing and these hours will be in addition to the 20 I’m already doing for the Bridge. Having said that though, when I’m working at the college I’ll still be firmly wearing my Bridge Youth Worker hat!
I know Tim has often said that God is a 3 mile an hour God, but my experience of Him at the moment is more like 10! It’s all good though and incredibly exciting. I’ll fill you in on the detail of exactly what being Assistant Chaplain is another time, but for now I’d really appreciate your prayers as I attempt to settle into this new role and find my feet.
Please do contact me if you’d like further info or have any questions about this.

Venture FX
The Methodist Church has always taken seriously the need to make the good news of Jesus Christ known to all people and especially those who don’t easily connect with the church. The Pioneering Ministries Scheme is a bold and exciting initiative to reach young adults with no Christian heritage. Over the next five years it is planned to identify 20 people with the gifts to pioneer new Christian communities among people of this age group, and 20 locations where this can happen.
The scheme is named venture FX to reflect its objective, which is to establish fresh expressions of church in new places and in new ways within a culture of holy risk-taking. The scheme is intended to complement the grass roots development of fresh expressions throughout the church and will add a strategic dimension to what is already happening, by focusing on this age-group and by releasing those who are identified as having pioneering gifts to devote their energy and vision to this task.

Robin Hood Tax
A tiny tax on bankers that would give billions to tackle poverty and climate change, here and abroad.
This tax on banks - not you or I - has the power to raise hundreds of billions every year. It could give a vital boost to the NHS, our schools, and the fight against child poverty in the UK - as well as tackling poverty and climate change around the world.
Not complicated. Just brilliant.

How it works
The Robin Hood Tax is a tiny tax on bankers that would raise billions to tackle poverty and climate change, at home and abroad.
By taking an average of 0.05% from speculative banking transactions, hundreds of billions of pounds would be raised every year.
That’s easily enough to stop cuts in crucial public services in the UK, and to help fight global poverty and climate change.
Why now?
Because of the financial crisis, frontline services at home - like the NHS and our schools - are under fire.
At the same time, poor communities and the environment are being hit hard - as aid and green budgets are slashed by rich countries.
So it’s time for the people who caused this mess to pay to clean it up.

Mission Shaped Intro course
Mission Shaped Intro Course led by Revd. Tim Woolley, the District Director of Mission.
The dates are 18, 25 March, 8, 15, 22, 29 April 7.30pm at Sapcote Methodist Church
A six session course to rediscover mission and re-imagine church.
New world, new church? Our world and our lives have changed in the last twenty years but has the church changed too? Do we need a changed church for a changing world? Are new forms of church really possible and how can they be developed?
The mission shaped intro course explores the ‘why’ of creating fresh expressions of church rather than the ‘how’. The course takes you on a journey looking at the ever-changing nature of our social communities and explores why the church has to rethink its approach to communities in meaningful ways.
The ninety minute sessions are delivered through presentation, movie clip and stories with group participation.
Do book the dates in your diary.
