Sundays

Sundays,…..When I was a boy (1966 vintage) Sundays were the most boring day of the week. Nothing to do, we even had to sit and rest in the afternoons, it was mad.

Now I see Sundays differently. It is the best day of the week.

You see I belong.

I am part of a community that values me for who I am now, the skills, gifts and talents I have. We meet, we chat, sing, learn, grow, cry, laugh, drink and eat togther. We can ‘be’ togther without having to ‘do’ anything.

They help me connect with God, the Father who loves me beyond my wildest dreams. He  is so committed to me He will not leave me as I am even though he accepts me just as I am. (that still blows my neurons)  I see my brother, Jesus the Son, in them. They teach me how to be more like him, how to be more human, how to have his attitude at 11am on a Monday morning and not just 6pm on a Sunday. And then there is ‘the power’, the Spirit, transforming me to bear fruit – love, joy,  peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, self control, goodness and humility.

None of us have got it sorted, we know we have more wrong than we have right.

But, we are on the way, not having arrived, yet, but keeping our eyes fixed on that goal………..

We meet on Sunday afternoons at 5.10pm for a presentation lasting about an hour, after which we share food, fun and conversation. The Bridge is for all ages. We will all be together for the first 15-20 minutes of the evening’s presentation. The young people and children will then go to their own activities:

  • KFC kids for 5 to 10 years old
  • RS2 for 11 to 14 years old
  • We run a crèche for the under 5s

We look to welcome non-church-going people into the Christian community and enable them to discover and respond to the life transforming power of Jesus Christ.
