Street Pastors
We are quite desperate for base supporters, especially on Saturday nights. Currently we have no cover for Saturday nights at all. Could you possibly help?. What this involves is being in the Salvation Army base whilst the street pastors are out, providing them with tea / coffee when they come back for a break, and sometimes at the end. If any police officers drop in, giving them tea / coffee and talking to them. And of course, praying for the street pastors whilst they are out.
Any one who is interested can contact Jane Neale 01455 617185 or 07747 188708 for details.
Street Pastors
We only have 19 street pastors, with training beginning in January (30th at St. Francis Community Centre) for new ones. This number is putting a lot of pressure on our current volunteers and we need more. We also need base volunteers who man our base on Friday and Saturday nights, their role is to pray with the street pastors before they go out, pray for them whilst they are on duty, provide very welcome tea and coffee to them before they go out, when they return for a break and at the end of the night. They also provide hot drinks to the police as well. It is a vital part of our street pastor ministry.
Also, we are exploring the idea of School Pastors, these work from the end of the school day (about 3pm until about 6/7pm) and work with young people and the schools. If we have enough interest then we may begin to train school pastors to work within town centre and around mount grace / JCC.
